Amazon Prime Day

23 sales to shop instead of Amazon Prime Day

It's not just Amazon bringing the discounts this month. Here's GQ's pick of the best Prime Day sale alternatives to shop today
Best alternatives to the Amazon Prime Day 2023 sales

Prime Day 2023 may be nearly upon us (July 11th, mark your calendars now), but that’s not to say every deal on the internet lives on Amazon during that all-important shopping week. While the e-commerce giant will be hosting discounts across myriad product categories, from tech to fitness to fashion, many others have followed in its footsteps, hosting their own sales to get a slice of the action.

Whether you’re in the market for a new electric toothbrush or some fresh summer threads (the latter of which you’re likely to have much better luck with elsewhere), here we’ve rounded up the best of today’s sales that aren’t Amazon Prime Day. We hope you have your card number memorised…

Percival: Up to 50% off in the ‘Last Chance Locker’

Outfitter to the stars, Percival has made a name for itself in recent months by appearing in the off-duty and even red carpet wardrobes of the stars (that's Tom Holland, Chris Evans and Paul Mescal, to name just a few). The British brand's mid-season sale is officially afoot, with its signature polos and breezy linen suits boasting discounts up to 50 per cent. And hey, if it's good enough for Spider-Man, it's good enough for us.

Currys PC World: Up to 40% off

Amazon Prime Day started life as a purist tech sale and even today the bulk of orders apply to electrical goods such as smart home devices, grooming essentials, and televisions. The Currys PC World sale is thus its most direct competition, offering deals to rival Amazon’s up to 40 per cent off products, including laptops, TVs, mobile phones, fitness trackers, and more. Leading the deals is a £230 discount on HP's Pavilion 14" laptop. Just as enticing are its markdowns on Dyson's V8 vacuum cleaner, and LG's 10.5 kg 1400 spin washing machine to name a few.

Simba Sleep: Up to 40% off

If we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times, there really is no beating a Simba mattress when it comes to hybrids. Fusing the best features of both pocket sprung and memory foam mattresses, Simba's medium-firm mattress range has found the ideal balance between being supportive and back-pain friendly with at least 2,500 pocket springs. But wait, there's more — all three versions of the Hybrid (the Hybrid, Hybrid Pro and Hybrid Luxe) are currently available with 40 per cent off in the brand's summer sale, meaning now really is the time to invest in a better night's sleep.

Le Creuset: Up to 30% off

Proprietor of some of the most iconic kitchenwares in the game, Le Creuset's summer sale is bursting at the ceramic seams with top-quality deals on its Cast Iron, Non-Stick, Stoneware ranges and more. And yes, that includes the ever-iconic casserole dishes, now available for 30 per cent off.

Reiss: Up to 40% off

Expert in elegant minimalism, Reiss is all about cultivating a “simple, but effective” feel. The brand's summer sale collates a delectable range of luxurious leisurewear and wardrobe must-haves, all with up to 40 per cent discounts. Although broad, the brand's rather tempting outlet offering is easy to navigate… but when in doubt? You can't go wrong with a classic Reiss polo shirt.

Boots: Up to 70% off in the summer sale

Getting ahead of the Prime Day wave, Boots launched its ‘Summer Saving’ event across various product categories, which have so far included everything from condoms and allergy tablets to hairdryers and teeth-whitening kits. Better get browsing.

MatchesFashion: Up to 60% off in the summer sale

Whilst Amazon Fashion's offerings can be slim, the Matches mid-season sale, quite simply, never disappoints. With thousands of name-brand pieces receiving reductions of up to 60 per cent (including the likes of Thom Browne, Isabel Marant, Valentino Garavani, Acne Studios, and all that good logo-loving stuff), this shopping event is certainly not one to be missed.

LookFantastic: Up to 40% off (and an added 5% with code ‘SAVE’)

LookFantastic's sale promises major savings as part of its summer and bank holiday offering, in which almost no arena of cosmetics is out of bounds. With up to 40 per cent discounts on everything from luscious Lancôme eye creams to grooming electricals (plus an added 5 per cent when you use the code ‘SAVE’ at check-out, FYI), the sale is certainly not to be missed. And yes, while the deals are definitely more weighted towards women's cosmetics, the men's department is home to more than a few standout offerings, from big-name brands to everyday skincare. Ssense: Up to 60% off in the summer sale

With everything from reliable everyday Dad sneakers and edgy glasses frames to big-name ready-to-wear, the Ssense sale is home to more than a few tempting picks. However, it doesn't end there. With up to 60 per cent off of Ssense's homewares, tech, activity, and self-care departments, there's a bargain or two to be had from the site for just about anything that might appear on your shopping list.

John Lewis: Up to 20% off in the summer sale

Although John Lewis is best known for its deals around Black Friday (who could forget the early days of in-store violence for the best-discounted televisions… simpler times), it’s not without its discounts at the moment. The renowned department store has promotions across categories right now, including especially generous men’s fashion deals as well as discount codes on homewares and tech.

H&M: Up to 40% off in the summer sale

With up to 40 per cent off across menswear, kidswear, and homewares, H&M's summer sale covers just about everything one could be looking for. Here to help you tick a plethora of goodies off of your shopping list, this is your sign to stock up on everything from super-soft loungewear and everyday denim, to rugs, cushions, and everything H&M Home has to offer.

Mr Porter: Up to 50% off in the summer sale

OK, so the Mr Porter summer sale was never really competing with Amazon Prime Day, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s one of the best spots for a summer wardrobe steal right now. Featuring markdowns up to 50 per cent off SS23 collections, spanning brands from Acne Studios to 120% Lino. Needless to say, the selection is much more exciting than the slim fashion pickings on Amazon… no shade intended.

La Redoute: Up to 50% off everything on site

Listen now, and listen well: La Redoute currently has 50 per cent off of everything. Whilst La Redoute's sale might also play host to a range of affordable menswear and kidswear, what we're most excited about is its delectable selection of homewares. Amazon's own interiors offering can often leave something to be desired, La Redoute's is home to a range of practical and decorative products that are designed to bring that final je ne sais quoi that makes a house a home…

Sports Direct: Up to 70% off

We’ve all been prioritising our home fitness setups over the past few years, and even with gyms back open, our penchant for a workout from the living room/garden/garage is going nowhere any time soon. While Amazon Prime Day 2023 has its fair share of fitness deals to filter through, the Sports Direct sale, which is running along the same timeline, is also rife with discounted equipment for home gyms as well as kit from top sports brands should you soon be venturing back to the HIIT studio.

Cos: Up to 50% off

Cos' seasonal sale is one of the most hotly anticipated shopping events on the seasonal calendar… and it's finally arrived. With discounts up to a major 70 per cent, this menswear sale spans enough knitwear, shirts, trousers, T-shirts and more to keep you decked out in the most delectable pieces the brand has to offer for the remainder of '23 and beyond. What are you waiting for?

Selfridges: Up to 40% off in the summer sale

Does the Selfridges sale even need an introduction? A seasonal highlight of the shopping calendar, the Selfridges summer sale spans menswear, accessories, homewares, tech and even fine jewellery and watches, meaning that you can pick up Nespresso's Vertuo deluxe coffee machine and a Dsquared2 knit all within a few clicks of each other.

Flexispot: Up to 33% off for Flexispot's ‘Brand Day’

Let's be real, Flexispot's discounted standing desks are giving those currently marked down on Amazon a major run for their money. Offering easy switch-ups between sitting and standing (and even pedalling, if you are that way inclined) Flexispot's motorised desks are market-leading and the Pro Series E6&E7 models are currently discounted by an enticing £120.

Farfetch: Up to 60% off in the sale

In the market for luxury? Farfetch's menswear sale steals the show with its thousands (yes, thousands) of discounted designer products with up to 60 per cent off across everything from iconic bags and statement footwear to logo tees and even up-market homewares. Time is short and Farfetch's list of deals is much, much too long, so we'll leave it at this: you'd better get scrolling.

House of Fraser: 50% off in the sale

Joining the wealth of department stores offering big summer discounts, House of Fraser has 50 per cent off selected products from menswear, womenswear, homeware, fitness gear, and even office gear, allowing you to tick off just about anything from your dream Prime week shopping list. Yes, even an at-home treadmill.

Nike: Up to 60% off in the sale

Acclaimed proprietor of all things sportswear, Nike is beyond a giant in its field, and its seasonal sale offering is almost as major as the brand itself. Spanning everything from streetwear, sportswear, performance gear, and good ol' everyday kicks, the Nike sale is home to almost 2,000 bargains, all with up to 50 per cent discounts. Don't walk, run (and in Nike running gear).

Cult Beauty: Up to 50% off in the sale

Cult Beauty's summer sale offers up to 50 per cent off of everything from skincare and hair care to grooming electricals and the hypiest of social media phenomenon products. With nearly 200 products to choose from, this selection might be primarily geared towards women's pharmaceuticals, but we're never one to turn down a good deal on a good face mask or skin-repairing serum.

Weekday: Up to 60% off in the sale

Having cultivated a modernised, youthful aesthetic, Weekday's edgy mode has quickly fallen into favour with Gen Z and millennials alike - and it's not hard to see why. Offering up to 60 per cent off in its summer sale, Weekday's offering spans enough ‘80s-inspired denim and reliable wardrobe basics to dress the entire cast of Stranger Things (plus a few extras). Steve Harrington would certainly be a fan.

Office: Up to 50% off in the mid-season sale

Offering up to 50 per cent off their footwear goodies (plus an added 10 per cent if you can get your hands on a student discount code), the Office summer sale spans a stylish range of big-name brands and affordable picks of all kinds. Our pick of the bunch? That goes to Birkenstock's Super Birki clogs, and their edgy, chunky shape that gives more expensive styles by the likes of Bottega Veneta a run for their money.
